    Природоохранная организация Healthy Seas, занимающаяся сохранением океанической среды, сообщила о завершении крупнейшей в своей истории операции по очистке морских вод. Благодаря поддержке Hyundai, волонтеры организации ликвидировали 76 тонн мусора на заброшенном рыболовецком хозяйстве на острове Итака в Греции. Собранные рыболовецкие сети пойдут на переработку и станут частью безотходной экономики замкнутого цикла. Об этой важной истории рассказывает новый документальный фильм студии BBC Storyworks.

    Весной 2021 года компания Hyundai Motor сообщила о заключении с природоохранной организацией Healthy Seas партнерского соглашения с целью приближения экологически ответственного будущего. Приверженность Hyundai разработке транспортных решений с нулевым уровнем выброса и опыт Healthy Seas в деле защиты морских экосистем позволили двум организациям объединить усилия ради создания экологически ответственных сообществ.

    «Данное соглашение – пример нашего многостороннего подхода к продвижению концепции «Прогресс для человечества», – заявил Майкл Коул (Michael Cole), президент и генеральный директор Hyundai Motor Europe. – Помимо продвижения транспорта с нулевым уровнем выбросов на суше, мы думаем о защите хрупких экосистем моря. Именно поэтому для работы над данным проектом мы объединились с Healthy Seas, а студия BBC Storyworks нам оказала неоценимую помощь, сняв фильм о нашем деле. Общими усилиями мы успешно преодолели материально-технические трудности и сделали так, чтобы наша концепция воплотилась в жизнь», – добавил он.  

    Путь на Итаку: расчищая завалы экологической катастрофы

    Объектом работы экоактивистов стало заброшенное рыболовецкое хозяйство на греческом острове Итака. В 2020 году обрушившийся на остров ураган Янос затронул не функционирующую с 2012 года рыбную ферму, оставив в прибрежных водах после себя тонны промышленных отходов – пластиковых трубок, рыболовных сетей, нейлоновых канатов, металлических обрезков и других объектов. Для местной морской экосистемы это событие оказалось катастрофой. 

    Работы по очистке вод представляли собой серьезный вызов как из-за удаленного расположения рыболовецкого хозяйства, так и из-за большого количества мусора, который нужно было убрать. Планирование проекта потребовало полгода: над созданием плана действий и его конечным воплощением работала группа из 45 человек, в том числе 20 дайверов, несколько судовых экипажей и волонтеры. 

    8 июня 2021 года, во Всемирный день океанов, команда проекта приступила непосредственно к очистке. Международная бригада в составе 14 дайверов-волонтеров из дружественной организации Ghost Diving работала над ликвидацией колец, трубок и рыболовных сетей, в то время как нанятые на коммерческой основе дайверы занимались уборкой тяжелых металлических обломков с морского дна. Еще одна группа волонтеров прочесывала побережье, которое во многих местах было покрыто внушительным слоем пластиковых отходов, выброшенных на берег за многие годы.  

    Благодаря работе команды волонтеров, из моря, с береговой линии и побережья было удалено 76 тонн мусора. Кроме того, группа дайверов, в состав которой входил Эрик Вурц (Erik Wurz), морской биолог из Вагенингенского университета, провела научное исследование негативного влияния загрязнений на местную окружающую среду. Мероприятие стало самой крупной операцией по очистке моря в истории Healthy Seas. 

    «Результаты нашей работы по очистке побережья и вод Итаки – это действительно уникальное явление, – заявила Вероника Микос (Veronika Mikos), директор Healthy Seas. – Это мероприятие не было бы возможным без поддержки Hyundai и помощи наших многочисленных международных и локальных партнеров. Наша работа принесет незамедлительный ощутимый эффект как местным жителям, так и морским экосистемам», – отметила она. 

    Рыболовные сети превращаются в ECONYL® – восстановленный нейлон для экономики замкнутого цикла

    Однако на этом работа активистов не закончилась. Собранный мусор был отправлен на пункт приема отходов под Афинами, где был переработан в новые материалы. Партнерская организация Aquafil проведет очистку и сортировку рыболовных сетей и других отходов из нейлона, чтобы затем превратить их в материал под названием ECONYL®. Нити нового материала можно подвергать переработке неограниченное количество раз, а сам материал можно использовать для создания спортивной одежды и купальников, ковров и даже отделки салона автомобилей. Конечная цель Hyundai – интегрировать ECONYL® в собственную продукцию. Первым шагом на этом пути стала недавно представленная модель IONIQ 5, которую в Европе можно заказать с ковриками, изготовленными из данного материала.   

    «Используя собранный мусор в качестве возобновляемого источника сырья для будущей продукции, мы вносим вклад в продвижение безотходной экономики, от которой выигрывает как окружающая среда, так и люди во всем мире», – отметила Вероника Микос. 

    Документальный фильм BBC Storyworks об экологии

    Чтобы задокументировать свою деятельность, повысить осведомленность об охране морского пространства и совместных усилиях Hyundai и Healthy Seas по продвижению безотходной экономики, а также рассказать историю об очистке вод и побережья около Итаки, компания Hyundai Motor заключила соглашение со студией BBC StoryWorks. 

    Документальный фильм под названием «Волны перемен» (Turning Tides) демонстрирует масштаб загрязнений от рыболовецкого хозяйства и показывает степень его влияния на жизнь морских обитателей до проведения работ по очистке. Картина показывает, как волонтеры собирают отходы на побережье и в море, а затем отправляют их на завод Aquafil для дальнейшей очистки и переработки. Весь мусор подвергается максимальной переработке, в то время как определенный тип полимеров – так называемый Нейлон 6 – превращается в материал ECONYL®.

    Чтобы соответствовать лейтмотиву фильма и продвигаемой Hyundai концепции экологически ответственного мира, канал BBC Storyworks руководствовался «зеленым» подходом к съемкам и использовал для подзарядки оборудования электричество, полученное с помощью солнечных батарей. В качестве признания шагов, которые команда телеканала предприняла для уменьшения собственного углеродного следа, экологическая организация Albert присудила съемочной команде две из трех возможных звезд рейтинга Carbon Action Plan и 83% соответствия плану по снижению выбросов углерода. 

    Премьера документальной кинокартины состоится 2 августа 2021 года на сайте проекта BBC Future Planet, а также в аккаунтах Hyundai в социальных сетях.
